Job Summary:

Our client has an immediate opening for the position of Director of Web Operations, reporting directly to the Vice President, Interactive.

The Director of Web Operations is a leader, a visionary, a negotiator and an advocate.

The successful candidate will lead the Interactive department’s Web Operations and Production Team to continue the development and enrichment of our client’s website. They are also responsible for technology-related aspects of these projects. The Director manages all aspects of the team’s day-to-day operations - managing the technical environment, managing budgets, approving overall creative direction and resource estimates prior to shipping scopes, workbacks, estimates, mock-ups and designs to clients. Together with the VP, Interactive, and in collaboration with the IT group, they will develop the department’s technology vision and handle technology project planning and implementation, resource management, financial budgets and other related areas of the department. They will be responsible for the day to day operation of the website including but not limited to; Content Management System, E-Commerce plus Email Deployment, Community, Mobile and Video Platforms.

Main responsibilities include:

• Project Management - Deliver projects on time, on target, on budget. Estimate accurately and delivery accurately against estimates. Maintain production schedules and keep stakeholders aware of overall priorities and progress towards goals, campaign due dates, etc. Maintain an up-to-date calendar of completed, upcoming and running projects.
• Production & Quality Assurance – Move projects across development, staging and production environments in an organized manner and handle quality assurance related tasks. Document and manage centrally, all major department processes and standards related to content creation and web publishing. Ensure proper version control and work with VP and senior managers of the department to ensure that staff is following process. Evolve processes in an organized manner.

• Technology - Develop technology standards and ensure compliance across all Interactive properties (web, email, mobile, etc.). Work with IT to ensure proper integration between internal and external systems, such as e-mail deployment / ad serving / web statistics, as well as code received from external freelancers. Develop expand functionality of applications such as content management systems, wireless/SMS, personalization and website security. Ensure smooth system operations post launch.

• Handle all aspects of technology infrastructure (web servers, development and production environment, coding, scanning stations) to ensure highest possible availability and performance. Evolve infrastructure to handle growing needs and audiences and to capitalize on new functionality and cost savings.
• Handle all aspects of team operations including HR, budgets, creative direction and client relations. Guide the team in their day-to-day design and production decisions and represent the team within internal / external meetings. Maximize the career potential of direct reports.

Applicant's Qualifications:

Education:
• Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent

Experience:
• 6+ years experience directly related to on-line market and genre;
• Sales, e-Commerce or business development experience is critical;
Interactive studio management experience – a proven track record of managing creative professionals, commercial web design studio or similar;
• Experience with a variety of online technologies and emerging advertising formats;
• Experience with Flash, HTML, ASP, Javascript, DHTML, Photoshop, Premiere, Content Management systems and CSS are a must, as is an understanding of graphic compression and video streaming (Microsoft, Real, Quicktime, etc.);
• Previous supervisory experience;
• Mobile Platform experince.

• Deep integrated content design, usability and production experience;
• Dedicated to continuous improvement; unafraid to challenge current practices;
• Manages departmental and cross-departmental initiatives efficiently and effectively;
• Strong project management and organizational skills. Experienced in delivering results in an extremely fast-paced production environment;
• A demonstrated track record of designing, deploying and successfully maintaining a wide variety of Interactive / web-based systems in a large organization, on time, on target, on budget. Specific technical skills and experience required;
• Proven experience with Microsoft Web Development tools (MS Site Server, ASP, DCOM, .NET, VB, Visual Studio);
• Solid understanding of/experience with databases (SQL Server).
• Proven experience with infrastructure design, performance and capacity planning and web server operations for IIS;
• Must possess quality and customer service oriented attitude;
• Mobile marketing and publishing experience a definite asset;
• Passionate interest in movies and entertainment is a must;
• Bilingual in English and French is a definite asset;
• Other personal qualities - Strong analytical capability, creativity and innovation, business acumen, team player and politically astute, personal drive and self-starter, strong interpersonal/communication skills – to develop mid-to-senior level relationships, coaching and leadership capability, outstanding integrity.
