Job Summary:

Our client has an immediate opening for the position of Manager, Software Development and Integration, reporting directly to the Vice President, Software Solutions.
Your mission is to manage a team of software developers to success, in designing and building software solutions for our company that exceed user expectations and ultimately improve the company’s bottom line.

The Software Solutions is a small and efficient group composed of a Business Analysis/Project Management team and a Development team. In this position you would be heading up the later. It’s a casual environment, with flexible work hours, a great sense of camaraderie and a passionate appreciation for the business.

Main responsibilities include:

• Establish and document development standards/policy. Ensure that they are followed (i.e. coding, source control, solution hierarchy, application stack of common libraries, error trapping, UI behaviour).
• Assignment of software development resource to projects and incidents, in collaboration with project management team, driven by management priorities.
• Review and manage service request tickets assigned to your team, ensure deployment and implementation details are appropriate for low-risk/low-impact tickets.
• Review and sign-off on all Effort Assessments.
• Review and sign-off of all Technical Specification documents.
• Regular code reviews, setting code standards and coach team to improvements.
• Management and administration of all development and test server environments, everything above the Hardware and OS (Production servers managed entirely by Computer Operations).
• Coordination and communication of hardware resourcing needs with computer operations management.
• Coordinating production releases with Computer Operations Team.
• Primary response and coordination/communication of team members, during off business hours, when/if the computer operations team needs assistance/consultation from the development group with a production incident.
• Ensure team is following process and protocol for change management and other administrative record keeping.
• Staffing and Staff Performance – ensuring that you coach and deal with performance issues in a very timely manner.

And last, but not least, you are a technophile. You vigorously follow a number of blogs/news groups. You’ve been on the net since Netscape 2.0. You speak the XSLT computer language. You write code with ease and enjoy it. Furthermore, you are passionate about Microsoft technologies. You beta tested .NET. You have solid experience with much of their application stack and understand the power of leveraging the api’s and libraries that they provide.

A Specialist with:
• 5+ Years of Visual Studio (specifically c#) (ideally now at VS2008).
• 5+ Years with XML and web client technologies (i.e. JavaScript pro, XSL, XSLT, CSS etc.).
• 3+ Years of MS SQL Server Development and/or Administration (incl. solid TSQL and LINQ).
• 2+ Years of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server development (building and deploying web parts, workflows and other components with Visual Studio).
• 2+ Years of Visual Studio Team Foundation Server management.
• 2+ Years of source control systems and protocol, versioning builds and branching policies and protocol.

Ideally you have some experience with:
• MS CRM 4.0
• MS BizTalk Server
• InfoPath & SharePoint Designer
• Access, Excel and/or VBA script experience
• Eclipse JAVA IDE and Java development itself
• PeopleSoft Application Designer
• Oracle .NET Development Tools
• Oracle DB Development & Administration
• VB 6, COM+
• C++
• PowerBuilder
